Yeah, am using a cordless phone. I dont remember but even with corded phone I guess I had this issue. And the cordless phone is DECT 6 phone which shouldn't interfere with the wireless connection that is at a different frequency.
And what alternatives do you feel could solve this problem?

boreal, cool down. Just think what you will do if you are in that situation.
At personal level ( micro level) these people are making right decisions. As long as you are not committing crime, nothing wrong with making decisions which are good for you. I will probably do the same thing if I am in that situation.
The core problem with system was cheap money because of lax lending standard and low interest rates ( blame Greenspan) and affordable housing (like ACORN from Dems). These decisions are made by people in power and so called smart people. Individuals do have their contribution to the problem but the macro decisions provided them means to have things which they can not afford. The bubble had to burst sooner or later ....
So right now, remember wealth is always relative. So since you haven't bought house, you don't have negative equity or declining value home.You haven't foreclosed so you can still get loan at decent rate and buy house at much cheaper price. All the people with money in the market are affected by recent downturn. So relatively speaking you are doing much better than a lot of other people ....
BTW I am in the same situation as you are and waiting for good opportunity to buy house at cheap price. Do you see the positive side ? I hope you do .....

Otherwise guys like you and many others would have bought house at a resonable price.

The banks in turn gets money from Governement, which they tax on people like you and many others who are renting, so that the guys like pubjabi are entitled to big house and bailouts. This is sick. What Mr. Aytes have proposed is too narrow. He is proposing that applicants whose application is pending due to Namecheck delay will not get the benefit for multi-year EAD. This is not what the current rule says. So asking for implementation of the current rule means asking for multi-year EAD for all I-485 applicants, not depending on whether or not Mr. Aytes is having a good/bad day.
There is already a standing rule since 2004-5. It is now 2008 and he has not implemented multi-year EAD rule. Given their past record, I would prefer that we not depend on their good heart for implementing this change.
One more thing, when thousands of people will write letters and something will get done, orgs like AILA and lawyers like Murthy will claim that they got it done for us :-), for our sake :-). Just wait and watch..... ;)
I think we should not mention the bellow point in the letter which we are going send to the president.

Now what? Under the new filing fee schedule which took effect after July 29, 2007, issuance of EAD and Advance Parole for the post August 27, 2007 is "free, free, free" for the I-485 filers. Allegedly, the cost is incorporated in the I-485 filing fee of $1,020. The new regulation uses the term of "fee waiver" for EAD and Advance Parole for these I-485 filers. Now, you guessed it! Lo and Behold, the business calculation on EAD and Advance Parole has reversed. The DHS will lose a huge money by issuing single-year EAD and a separate Advance Prole document on a yearly basis over and over since they are free and they will have to keep producing it at no charge every year, which creates a huge workloads consuming its huge human resources and other production costs. This is particularly unacceptable to the agency under the predicted State Department Visa Bulletin for FY 2008 and in the future. Now, from the business standpoint, the DHS may make a huge money by issuing a multi-year EAD which will also function as a travel document. Ahah! No wonder why they are finally coming forward revealing their hidden agenda behind the new fee rule-making and EAD/Advance Parole reform business. Reportedly, Mr. Aytes of USCIS disclosed in a New York AILA conference that the USCIS was currently working on a single multi-year EAD card that will also replace the Advance Parole document. My company applied 100 485's . 85 from NSC and 15 from TSC (140 aproval). All NSC people got receipts, some of got FP's also. But TSC people still waiting for checks to be cleared.

There are a few praises about Jet Airways in previous posts.
Let me set the record straight. They have miles to go before they start claiming themselves as "world class" international airline.
I was on vacation past 2.5 weeks to India and here is my experience.
Regarding Jet Airways poor customer service:
On return, my Jet Airways flight from Rajkot (Gujarat) to Mumbai was delayed by 2 hours. Its only a 55 minute flight from Rajkot to Mumbai. Because of this, my connection of Delta airlines from Mumbai to New York was missed. Delta gave me a seat on plane the next day. Same flight - but a day after. So now, I was stuck in Mumbai, with huge luggage for 24 hours. I asked Delta for Hotel accomodation. They said, its not their fault and its Jet Airways fault and I should ask them for Hotel.
I went to Jet Airways customer service in Mumbai airport. They said that they cant find a single room in Mumbai due to some exhibition/conference going on at the time. A major international airline, shooting for stars, cant find a Hotel room in a city as big as Mumbai. Frustrated, I went to a government agency office (IATA I think) and they said that they dont have anything nearby, but can arrange something 30 kilometers away, and it was a sub-standard hotel and room. I paid out of my own pocket and stayed there a night. It was Rs 2000 (about $50) for this hotel plus taxi.
The next day, before boarding Delta flight, I went to Jet Airways office again and told them that I found a hotel room on my own and see if they can re-imburse me for the hotel expenses. If they had paid themselves in Hyatt or Grand Meridian outside airport, it would have been more anyways. The manager of Jet Airways said that they cannot do it and I should scan the reciepts and my boarding pass and email customersupport at jetairways.
An hour before this happened, the office didnt even have anyone in charge in office (at about 7:00 PM). The agent said, the manager isnt here. I asked, "who's in charge", and she said "No one is in charge right now, you have to come back at 8:00 when manager comes in".
What I am saying is, Jet Airways has miles to go before it can take pride. Just starting flights to Newark, Chicago doesnt make it a great airline. Neither does good food. Treat customers well, and atleast do a better job than government offices when it comes to locating hotel rooms for stranded passengers who are stranded due to their fault.
Mumbai Airport security harrassment :
My flight was just past midnight and I checked out of hotel at noon. (I had to). With 12 hours and nothing to do, I headed to Mumbai airport. At the airport, they dont let you inside the building unless you are a passenger. The security guard at the door said that I need to come back at 9:00 PM and I cant go into the airport right now as my flight is at night. I told him that I am not coming to airport to enjoy the lounge and I am stranded due to missed airline connection. He didnt listen. I was sitting outside the building until about 8:00 PM with all luggage.
Now I understand that security is important, but what's the point in stopping someone and letting them inside only 4 hours prior. Because if there is a nefarious person planning something bad, what can he/she do in 10 hours that he/she cant do in 4 hours. How does it enhance security by limiting the presence of passengers inside airport? Well, you cant argue with knuckleheads.
Inside airport, I ran into a German lady and a guy from Netherlands and both of them were in the airport since the afternoon. They said they argued and they were let in. Basically, the Indian security forces at the airport wont argue with Europeans and will let them inside the airport but will go extra lengths to harrass people that they are comfortable harrassing - their own people.
So we can ignore London airport. Fine. Are we also going to ignore Mumbai airport now?
The best way to avoid harrassment is to stand up and fight it. Because avoiding this airport and that airline is not going to cut it.

My attorney is asking for my I 94 to file for my h1 extension that is expiring in June 2007. Which I 94 should I give him the one that I currently have which says Parole till 01/26/2007 or the one thay I got with my h1 approval notice earlier that says H1 valid till 06/2007??

Jan is a VERY good time to catch up with your local congressman or their staff since the house isn't in session.
I am preparing a presentation that can be used as talking points, and explain our case.
We also need a 2-page writeup (glossary type thing) that we can email and leave it with them after the meeting. Can someone step up to do this?
If you don't get an appointment with the congressman, atleast go talk with his staff. usually there are a couple of guys assigned with immigration reforms. It should not be hard to get appointments with them.
Can we start people signing up for this in different states? I am hoping for a good response.

I am in a similar situation. I applied just 95 days before. My lawyer "forgot" and I applied in a rush in the end. I am hoping it will not be a problem.
My understanding is that you will remain in status even if you do not have EAD or AP. However you cannot work.
I have a meeting with my lawyer on wednesday. I will be asking her about this. I am hoping for peace of mind that this does not become an issue.
I checked with somebody in the forum like you and he got it in 2 and 1/2 months. I checked in the USCIS web site. It says you have to apply 6 months in advance. I did not know about this since I got it in a month last year when my case was in CSC.

I am joining Law Suit. I am leaving this country, if they make it 'U' for Eb2 and Eb3 for India.
i don't see a point here. they no need to approve the cases if no visa numbers but what wrong to accept. thoguh I am effecting by this my feeling is that this is just a rumor.

i do not understand how overstaying and transit visas are related.
the TV allows you to "walk from one gate to another" in the international transit area...that's all. you cannot walk OUT anyway without crossing immigration- and if you want to do that- you always need a visa. this new visa, confers (for 90 bucks per person) the right to walk to your plane- sometime the right to walk off and back on to your plane...what a joke!
even the US now requires this so the UK only did a copycat deal, but the issue here (besides money grubbing behavior) is the way people are treated. sorry lost in space...but you do not seem to understand. if you do not step on UK soil you cannot overstay. the purported reason for this "walking visa" is security. and we all know that "security" can these days be a euphemism for treating people pretty badly. personally if i had the choice when transiting i would not go through london...ever. if nothing else the taxes are astronomical and they make the tickets more expensive most times and walking from one gate to another involves serious hassles with new security checks and long lines. and i do hope that enough people vote with their feet so the UK govt pays attention. london is too wonderful a city to lose out like this....

Doesn't your own post have the answer... I came here to get the details almost a week back and I was doing my home work and I think I have got the right agencies.. Absolutely, the chances for movement to June 2007 is bright but not in May. One of the old models did predict August 2007 by Sep 2011. And then it was noticed that EB3 porting was not properly accounted for in the equation (only 150 per month was accounted). Thereafter, it was stated that Eb3 -> 2 porting is at least 500/m (which I thought was quite a bit). This burden in the model dragged Aug'07 predicted movement date to Nov'06. Now that 12000 EB1 spillover is being claimed, this would account for and balance even 1000/m Eb3->2 porting. Therefore an August 2007 PD by Sep'11 is a good possibility. But the visa bulletin has it's own brains.
